By the 1990s Garneau products were being distributed worldwide and the company was one of the top three cycling apparel manufacturers in North America. By 2010 Garneau was seen as a pioneer in the industry as well as leading technical advancement of cycling products.
Fast forwarding to current day the folks at Garneau have really embraced the fatbike scene. In 2016 the company introduced the fatbiking world to the Gros Louis and expanded their line-up to three fatties in 2017. For 2018 they have a whopping six bikes (including a women’s, kids and carbon) and almost 150 other fatbike related items including clothing, footwear, helmets and accessories.
Fatbike Republic has partnered with Garneau to take a closer look at some their of cold weather fatbike inspired apparel.
4 SEASONS HOODIE JACKET
The 4 Seasons Hoodie Jacket acts as a shell that protects you from wind, rain and snow as well as contributing to preserving body heat. In order to manage the varying moisture and excess heat according to your effort, simply open the zippers located at the armpits to let fresh air in.
When the wind blows or unexpected rain starts falling, wear the hood over your helmet to stay protected and carry on with your adventure. Keep your essentials warm in the inner pocket located at the back at the jacket and accessible via the side ventilation openings. And before you go, secure your electronic devices in the zippered chest pocket. (Garneau)
OFF SEASON SHORTS
OFF SEASON SHORTS
The Off Season Shorts are designed with the best features of our mountain bike shorts, these softshell shorts are made with the tried and tested Enertec fabric. Not only is it ultra-breathable, but it is also resistant to abrasion and stretchable to allow maximum performance. Fitted to wear over tights or winter base layers, these shorts will come in handy for winter riding as well as for pre-race warmup.
The bulky zipper pullers and rubber trims make adjustments easy with gloves… or frozen fingers. Enjoy the convenience of 2-way zippers on the side of the legs that can be pulled down for additional ventilation or up to take the shorts off without having to remove your boots. And when wearing the 4 Seasons jacket, make sure to secure the powder skirt with the outer loop system. (Garneau)
PROVIDENCE BIB TIGHTS
These are our all-around tights. The Providence Bib Tights is the garment you want to have if you enjoy several cold-weather endurance sports.
The suspenders prevent them from sliding off your hips on effort, and the high degree of insulation of the Polartec® Wind Pro® fabric makes them an excellent choice for riding in colder weather. (Garneau)
RAIDS (MIPS) HELMET
The Multidirectional Impact System (MIPS) is a new, cutting-edge technology which has been proven to protect the brain from rotational forces caused by angled impacts to the head - the most common type of impact in cycling accidents.
The RAID helmet also provides plenty of coverage around the back of the head, specifically for trail riding activities. The Spiderlock® Pro MTB will stabilize the helmet on the cyclist's head, while the Tri-Glide PRO strap system will let you fine-tune the position of the helmet's straps with minimal fuss. The RAID visor can also be adjusted to three different positions
for a fully customizable setup. (Garneau)
